Man (26) arrested at Tubatse Mall for dealing in explosives

The suspect sold the explosives to an undercover cop for R10 000

LIMPOPO – An intelligence driven operation between the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit, crime intelligence, bomb disposal unit and the tactical response team resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old man at the Tubatse Mall for dealing in explosives on 5 November 2018.

According to provincial Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke, police received intel about a person who was selling explosives at the Tubatse Mall and the suspect was arrested immediately after selling the explosives (35 stinger booster and 35 shock tube) to an undercover cop for R10 000.

“The suspect, who is an Assistant Mechanical Engineer at Booysendal Mine, will make his first appearance in the Burgersfort Magistrates Court today (6 November) to face charges relating to contravention of the Explosives Act,” he concluded.
