EFF councillor arrested for alleged robbery in Northam

The suspect was arrested in connection with an alleged robbery incident at a house in Smashablock, Northam over the weekend

LIMPOPO – A 36-year-old Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) councillor appeared before the Northam Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of robbery and was remanded in custody.

The suspect was arrested in connection with an alleged robbery incident at a house in Smashablock, Northam over the weekend, said Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.

“The suspect and his accomplices allegedly went to the said house and robbed the occupants of money and liquor.”

The suspect is expected to reappear before the same court on 12 November for a formal bail application.

More arrests are expected soon, he concluded.
