Sports awards at MH

Mitchell House College hosted their fifth annual sports awards at the school recently, to acknowledge and honour young achievers in sport.

POLOKWANE – The event was held on Saturday, 13 October and saw Caroline Grace-Brüssow, wife of Springbok rugby player Heinrich Brüssow as guest speaker. She was one of the lucky talents to make the cut on The Voice SA, a local television series.

Caroline spoke about her journey to stardom and gave some motivational tips in terms of pushing through when you feel like giving up.

She also performed a few songs for the audience, which included parents and teachers.

“Our sporting programme is an important part of the educational process, as we believe that sport gives learners the opportunity to gain the values and skills that will be of benefit throughout their lives.

“We seek to convey an outgoing, healthy, physically active lifestyle, where enjoyable physical action is the norm, competition is understood and countless sporting values are carried over into one’s personal life. It is compulsory for learners to take part in sport and a wide choice is available at our school,” explained Headmaster Andre Cook.

Awards were handed out for athletics, swimming, cricket, basketball, tennis, chess, rugby, soccer, netball and hockey.
