Polokwane Executive Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng recently welcomed an excited group of 57 young graduates to the workforce of the municipality.
“The trainees consist of 34 females and 23 males who will be implementing their theoretical knowledge into practicality according to their respective fields of study,” Disree Manyane, Stakeholder Relations Officer of the municipality said in a media release.
Addressing the trainees on their arrival at the municipality, Nkadimeng is reported to have said that the municipality is committed to make a positive impact on the unemployment rate in Polokwane. She encouraged trainees to make use of the opportunity given to them in acquiring experience that will enable them to be employable and getting exposure to the workplace environment. “Please grab the provided opportunity and learn as much as you can. I wish you all the best of luck,” she encouraged.
Manyane said that the trainees were deployed in Legal Services, Town and Regional Planning, Sports and Recreation, GIS, Special Focus, Library Services, Communications and Marketing, Secretariat, Public Participation, Trade and Business Centres, Cooperatives and SMMEs, Cluster Offices, Investment Promotion and Tourism, Agriculture, Logistics and the Property sections. Trainees were also placed at the treatment plant, Energy Services and the laboratories.
“Upon completion, the trainees will be capacitated with career development for the work place. Also they will be able to spread their wings in their interests of study and acquire professional skills and competencies,” Manyane concluded.
