Two suspects, Matome Mackson Matswi (41) and David Mabunda (35) who face charges relating to cash-in-transit robbery were expected to make their second appearance in the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after they were arrested by Limpopo Hawks on the weekend.
Limpopo Hawks Spokesperson Matimba Maluleke indicated that three suspects had allegedly accosted security guards who were loading money into an Automated Teller Machine at Nkambako Village outside Tzaneen on 19 October.
The suspects allegedly only managed to rob a rifle from the guards before fleeing the scene on foot abandoning their getaway vehicle at the scene. The vehicle was reported stolen in Namakgale earlier this year.
Investigation by the Limpopo Hawks Serious Organised Crime Unit with assistance from Tzaneen Police Tracing Team resulted in the arrest of two of the three suspects on the weekend.
The manhunt for the third suspect continues.
