Local food enthusiasts converged on Mekete Boutique and Events last Sunday afternoon for an exclusive luncheon with celebrity chef, Lorna Maseko.
The guests were treated to an intimate three-course gourmet lunch curated by Maseko.
A different Tanqueray cocktail was served with each course to amplify the taste experience. Starters were a smoked salmon dish served with cucumber ribbons with avocado aioli and dill followed by a main dish of succulent lamb loin with a hearty gin jus, creamy mint puree, shallots and crispy carrot chips.
Maseko also incorporated tanqueray into her recipes such as the delicious deconstructed lime and gin cheesecake which left guests’ mouths watering for more. The event was capped off with a celebratory after-party featuring well known DJs, DJ Shimza and TBO Touch.
Guest Kgahliso Hanong commented that she had a good time and had enjoyed the food. “Food brings people together, especially women because we are homemakers and nurturers. The event was also a good platform to socialise and get to know each other better. I also enjoyed the ambiance and I think we should have more such events in Polokwane,” she said.
Maseko was quoted saying she had an amazing time at Mekete Boutique and Events in Polokwane and thanked everyone who attended the event.
Lebogang Tema, winner of the ticket giveaway competition for the event run by Polokwane Observer and the organisers failed to attend the event despite accepting the prize when informed telephonically.
Khanyi Buthelezi, event organiser confirmed that Tema hadn’t shown up. Further efforts to contact her proved futile.
