After 35 years, Enos is saying goodbye to Laerskool Ivy Park

Sehlaphelo’s responsibilities at the school include helping to clean the yard as well as transport learners to their homes from the school

POLOWKANE – Enos Sehlaphelo has been part of Laerskool Ivy Park for more than 35 years.

The father of five from Nobody says that it is important for learners to listen to their elders when they advise them and reprimand them.

“I have worked at Ivy Park for over 35 years and it gives me so much pleasure seeing the children grow to be responsible adults. I sometimes bump into some of them in town and they all still remember me and run to me and thank me for looking after them during school hours,” he explained.

Sehlaphelo’s responsibilities at the school include helping to clean the yard as well as transport learners to their homes from the school, as well as picking them up in the morning, transporting them on field trips which is where he gets to bond a little more with them as they get to socialise and talk.

“In my years at the school, I have learnt about the importance of having patience and tolerance when working with children. They learn differently and they also grow differently so one must adjust and understand each child’s personality,” he added.

The Principal of the school, Willem Opperman said that it has been an honour to work with Sehlaphelo. “He is always willing to assist and always goes an extra mile at ensuring that everyone, from the learners, teachers and other general staff at the school are happy. He is filled with a lot of wisdom and the children do learn a lot from him, myself included,” he concluded.
