Suspect (27) arrested in possession of unlicensed ammunition in Phalaborwa

Further police investigations are being conducted to establish the origin of the ammunition.

LIMPOPO – A 27-year-old suspect was arrested this morning, 24 October, after being found in possession of unlicensed ammunition during a sting operation in Phalaborwa outside Giyani.

According to police spokesperson, Constable Maphure Manamela, members comprising of various units within the station reacted to a tip-off about a suspect in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

“The suspect was traced to a house in Machidi Mashishimale village and during the search, 26 rounds of ammunition were confiscated. Further police investigations are being conducted to establish the origin of the ammunition,” she said.

The suspect was charged with illegal possession of ammunition and will appear before the Namakgale Magistrates Court on Thursday, 25 October.

Police investigations still continue.
