Mass memorial service to remember victims of horror N1 crash

Families have agreed to hold a mass memorial service and a funeral service to mark a final send-off of their beloved.

LIMPOPO – The MEC for Transport & Community Safety in Limpopo, Makoma Makhurupetje, will lead a delegation of the Executive Council to a memorial service to mourn victims of a horrific multiple vehicle accident that happened on the N1 near Kranskop on Friday, 19 October.

Early on Sunday, the Premier of Limpopo, Chupu Stanley Mathabatha, accompanied by Makhurupetje and the MEC for Health, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, joined families at Mokopane Hospital where they helped in identifying bodies of the deceased.

Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala says families have agreed to hold a mass memorial service and a funeral service to mark a final send-off of their beloved.

“The families will be supported by members of the Executive Council, Mayors and Councillors, interfaith leaders, traditional leaders, RAF and SANTACO leaders. The Department continues to convey their deepest condolences to the bereaved families,” he added.
