At home exercises with fitness trainer, Mpho

Exercising forms part of keeping a active lifestyle as well keeping fit to avoid falling victim to lifestyle diseases such as strokes, diabetes, hypertension and various others.

POLOKWANE – BONUS spoke to fitness trainer, Mpho Motshoane from Polokwane to find out what are some of the easy exercises that one can do at home in order to lead a healthy active lifestyle.

From 9-19 October, the Provincial and the National Department of Health will be rolling out a National Nutrition and Obesity ((NNO) campaign which are aimed at encouraging healthier and active lifestyles. Mpho is fitness trainer, who often facilitates free workout sessions in Polokwane to assist people to get in the habit of exercising at least three to five times a week, he says. “Exercising does not mean going to the gym or even paying a personal trainer, there are various easy exercises that one can do in the comfort of their home, in their back yard such as squads, skipping rope, sit up, push ups, bridge, lunges and many more.

Please keep hydrated with water in between exercising,” he added.

Mpho says that keeping active has various benefits health wise and emotionally. He says that people who exercise are confident and do not have that unnecessary weight clinging on them which suppresses their confidence levels. “I have seen most especially with women, whom I have trained how they were able to snap right back into being confident beings and felt good about themselves, they are doing well now in their individual ventures. So I would like to advise the entire community of Polokwane to take a stand at keeping active, it is worth it and rewarding,” he concluded.

Taking brisk walks in the afternoon does count as a form of exercise.
