New Review boss pav(g)es the way forward

Northern Media Group's new Branch Manager, Mario Janse van Rensburg comes with a wealth of experience in a familiar environment

POLOKWANE – “An avid golfer and a hands-on expert who has a flair for business and social.”

Northern Media Group’s new Branch Manager, Mario Janse van Rensburg, is not your typical run-of-the-mill boss.

Born and bred in Johannesburg, Mario and his wife, Sheralyn, recently joined the Caxton-owned NMG and are already settling in comfortably.

From the get-go, he emphasises that readers can expect partnership par excellence.

“We’re embracing change, and we’re willing to listen and adapt where necessary. We’re inviting new companies to partner with us in every way possible, and we’re looking forward to partnering with new businesses.”

He promotes his open-door policy, saying anyone is welcome to discuss and propose business structures with him.

“As far as advertising is concerned, I am more than willing to sit down with businesses and have agreements to come to a positive confirmation where everyone can benefit equally.

“What we’re going to strive to put out there to the community and to our readers will be of a high standard and high quality. And we’re also willing to listen to them and improve ourselves from that.

“Our newspapers and our websites are there for our readers to be informed and updated in what is happening around our city.”

NMG’s new Branch Manager comes with a wealth of experience in a familiar environment.

Growing up, Mario attended primary and high school in Johannesburg and after completing matric, went on to study a B.Comm (accounting) degree at the University of Johannesburg.

He worked as an accountant for Caxton Magazines for three years, before being scooped up as Regional Finance Manager at the Caxton Newspaper Head Office for a very successful 15-year period.

Sheralyn describes her husband as an outspoken individual who “has a flair for business and social”.

They love animals, love to travel and love exploring new places, so the move to Polokwane has its benefits.

Dog children Jessie and Jade also joined their big move.

“One of the best things about this city is not having to sit in traffic. It’s such a relief,” Mario says.

In terms of work and office, Mario says he wants a team that works together at one pace, and team members who work on new strategies in terms of involving readers close to heart of this very diverse city.

Join Mario and the rest of the team at The Bonus Gin Trip Festival on Saturday 27 October, Mall of the North (Overflow Parking area) from 11:00 for an event that offers posh prizes and super sips.
