The love for cooking inspires young entrepreneur to healthy foods

Mavis Maphoto, a 23-year-old from Seshego just outside Polokwane is self-employed and a self-taught chef.

POLOKWANE – Mavis is the founder and director of M&M competitive projects. She started the company in 2017 when she noticed a burgeoning market for affordable and easy African with a combination of Mexican food.

Knowing that a food truck would be the optimal solution to supply this market, she took her cooking skills and put them to work. She realised that there is a lot of value to create in the market.

She became an entrepreneurship because just like every young person who is struggling to get a job, she couldn’t wait for the government to do something. She made a way with something she is good at.

She says that she chose the name M&M which comes from Mavis Maphoto, because she wanted her company to stay true and original.

Mavis explained that after realising how much junk food a lot of people eat because it is quick to make and easy to access, she decided to make fast food with a twist of health.

“We focus on offering excellent services in supplying freshly made food to destined companies and individuals, our food are made for everyone the young and the old,” she said.

She added that there are a lot of ways to make healthy food while saving time and money.

She explained that even though cooking is what she loves the most she is not restricting herself only to cooking she is also learning other things like sewing.

“I love trying new things and taking on adventures, so when I don’t have any projects I take my time and learn how to use a sewing machine, and I also do some traveling,” she added.
