Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a light aircraft crashed shortly after take-off killing the pilot instantly outside Tom Burke early this (Tuesday) morning.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the pilot was positively identified as 54-year-old Koot Human Steyn from the farm Zwartwater in the area.
It is alleged that Steyn took off at about 07:15 from the farm to Gauteng. Within minutes after his departure something went wrong causing the plane to nose dive into the ground at Enkelfontein farm, according to Ngoepe.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
