MOKOPANE – Police in Mokopane have made a major breakthrough by arresting two suspects for businesses burglary and as a result, recovered various suspected stolen items valued at thousands of rands.
According to police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, an intelligence led joint operation composing of detectives and members from crime intelligence was conducted in Mokopane and led to the arrest of one of the suspects.
“This suspect was positively linked to 16 burglary cases which occurred around Mokopane and the industrial areas. Preliminary police investigations led the police to a house in Manyapye village in Ga-Mashashane, outside Polokwane where stolen property was recovered,” he explained.
The owner of the house, a 53-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen properties.
Some of the recovered items include grinders, vacuum cleaners, welding machines, generators, DVD players and speakers and a Plasma TV, among others.
“The estimated total value of all the recovered items is at around R700 000. Ongoing police investigations will determine the origin of these stolen properties,” Ngoepe concluded.
