Police intercept trio crime syndicate in Makhado

Two suspects believed to be part of a crime syndicate were arrested while en-route to commit a business robbery in Makhado CBD, said the Limpopo Police.

LIMPOPO – Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the police received a tip-off from local residents about armed suspects in a vehicle ‘roaming the area with a planned criminal mission’.

“A joint operation, consisting of various police units and the Makhado Rural Safety structures, was immediately activated and the duo were pulled off the road and apprehended and firearms, ammunition and a Mercedes-Benz recovered.

The Mercedes-Benz was reported stolen in the Mokopane Policing precinct earlier this month, Ngoepe added.

These suspects have since appeared before the Louis Trichardt Magistrate Court  for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle, possession of illegal firearms and ammunition and were denied bail.

Their cases were postponed to 5 October for further Police investigations.

These suspects were also positively linked to a series of serious crimes in the Mahwelereng and Seshego Clusters.

They will still appear before the Seshego and Mokerong Magistrate Courts respectively, next week.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba applauded the Team of Police officers and the Rural Safety community who participated during this operation on the job well done.
