Tiger Brands give back to the community

Tiger Brands Polokwane spent Friday, 14 September at Phologo Drop In Centre in Seshego in a quest to give back to the community.

POLOKWANE – The team from Tiger Brands donated food and helped clean the home.

“The main reason we are doing this, is for Tiger Brands to give back to the community, more especially the needy children. We did a research in terms of funding as well as sponsorship to various drop in centres around Polokwane and we found that Phologo Drop In Centre is struggling in catering for the children.

“Out of the 156 children they have at the centre, government only pays subsidies for 100 and only R9 per child per day for basic necessities such as food, which is very little. So we are here to help the centre as well as ensure that the children receive a proper lunch, sandwiches, juice and sweets. Plus four crates of bread,” said Ilse Spies, Regional Manager.

Founder of the centre, Caludia Mothemela who started the centre in 2009 said that they were very happy to have Tiger Brand visiting them as they rely primary on donations to keep the centre running.

“I am familiar with Tiger Brands and believe they are the perfect organisation to have a solid relationship with, as they work with products that will assist in looking after the children, basic essentials such as food and many other products. They have promised to come back to help revamp the centre to make it look and feel more like a home,” she added.
