Fond farewell for Westenburg teacher

Having served Hoërskool Westenburg Secondary in Westenburg for 15 dedicated years, and 35 years as a teacher, Motse David Lebeshe is now retiring at the age of 61.

POLOKWANE – The school paid tribute to him for his outstanding contribution to the school as well as the Limpopo school system in general.

Lebeshe maintains that learning is an ongoing process.

His highest qualification is an advanced certificate in mathematics which he obtained in 2016.

“It was actually my most favourite subject to teach even though I taught numerous subjects throughout my career,” he explained.

What he remembers fondly about his years in education, is how he enjoyed grooming the leaders of tomorrow.

“I also enjoyed the discipline part of the system, as learners need more than just academic knowledge to make it in life. You can be educated and highly qualified but if you do not have discipline and respect, all of those qualities equate to nothing,” he said.

His colleagues speak highly of him and said they have learnt a lot from him as a man with a lot of wisdom and knowledge.

“He has all the good qualities a teacher should have, and will indeed be missed and remembered. We wish him nothing but the best of luck with his journey.”

The school awarded Lebeshe with a long service award, handed over to him by the school’s Principal, Bettie Boom.

After retirement, Lebeshe plans to keep busy with gardening, walking and offering tutorial classes to learners who needs assistance.
