Learners of Sehlale Primary School and the Manoshi, Mokwatedi and Makgoka high schools in the Ga-Molepo and Boyne areas attended a community upliftment function at the Ntona Sontaga Hall at Ga-Molepo last Saturday.
The activity was an initiative of Charles Molepo, who is Ward 4 municipal councillor. Learners were exposed to career opportunities by presenters from Life Changing & Inspirational (LCI), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) from Gauteng. Representatives from 14 setas were also present to provide information and a speaker from the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (Sanca) informed the learners about the dangers of drug dependence.
Lebogang Serubarube, Director of LCI, said that the organisation specialises in the provision of inspirational talks and motivational sessions to the youth from the ages of 16 to 35 years, high school learners, school drop-outs, university students and graduates who are underprivileged. “Through inspirational talks and motivational sessions, our aim is to change the mind set of our youth in making them see things differently by taking charge of their own growth, development and success,” she explained.
“What makes us different or rather stand out from other NGOs is that we are a new generation of life changers that does not only offer tangible things such as donations but offer our support and become cheerleaders to those who do not have any,” she added.
