Man gets two life sentences for raping 18-year-old step daughter

He raped the victim during 2016 and 2017

POLOKWANE – A 48-year-old accused was sentenced to two life imprisonment terms by the Morebeng Sexual Offences Court outside Polokwane for the rape of his 18-year-old step daughter, said the police.

The victim was repeatedly raped during 2016 and 2017 and when she fell pregnant, he forced her to drink and unknown substance which resulted in her losing the child, said Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“The police were informed about this inhumane behavior and the intial investigations ensued until the perpetrator was apprehended and subsequently sentenced,” he explained.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lt Genl Nneke Jim Ledwaba has  commended the Saps Mankweng Cluster Family Violence, Child Protection and sexual Offences Unit(FCS) for a job well done.

“The SAPS continue to enjoy the acquirable heavy jail terms given to the dangerous criminals involved in the sexual related crimes by various courts throughout the province with pride and jubilation.”

We still encourage residents not to hesitate reporting sexual related cases because the police have well trained officers who are dedicated to deal with any case of this nature until to its positive finality, concluded Genl Ledwaba.
