Mokopane FM back on the right track, says the manager

"With a growth of more than 12 000 listeners, this reflects the dedication and a new dawn for Mokopane FM," says Malesa Mashiloane, the new Station Manager

MOKOPANE – There is a new voice in the management seat at Mokopane FM radio station.

Malesa Mashiloane, the new Station Manager, said the radio station had to be turned around due to a number of issues.

“Our listeners had dropped and businesses, sponsors and investors had lost confidence in us.

‘With a newly elected board and freshly minded management, there is new life in the radio station.

“It has not been and still not a smooth ride to restructure the set-up and regain confidence or trust from the community after such a daunting period.”

Mashiloane said the new management had to consult the constituency, which is the community, in order to involve them in all the processes regarding the constitution, programmes and ensuring them of the station’s vision.

“The station’s listeners have grown in leaps and bounds in the past three to four months. With a growth of more than 12 000 listeners, this reflects the dedication and a new dawn for Mokopane FM. I believe we are on the right track and that it is not a minor task. For us to grow in numbers, we need consistency and determination. We have challenges but it’s our duty to face and overcome them.”

Mashiloane said he is proud that the station managed to forge working partnerships with various local businesses and public institutions.

“We are hoping for more long-lasting relationships as we plan to upgrade our art of studio and antenna; also developing our staff through professional workshops. We need quality broadcasting and maximum coverage for the benefit of our community”

Mokopane FM is situated at 68 Pretorius Street and the frequency is 100.0MHz. The station will also be available for live streaming towards the end of the year, the station broadcast in 50% Sepedi, 30% English, 20% Afrikaans, Ndebele and Tsonga. The Mogalakwena community can follow Mokopane FM on social media to get more information pertaining the Spring/Summer village to village activities.

Mashiloane concluded: “No one in Mogalakwena must struggle to access local content ranging from information, education and entertainment. We would like to urge the mining companies and big businesses in and around Mokopane to lend a helping hand and form part of our community’s legacy.”
