Heavy traffic is experienced on the N1 South outside Polokwane after yet another fatal bus accident earlier this morning (Friday).
It is alleged than a bus overturned and rolled down an embankment approximately 20 km outside the city.
Spokesperson for the Department of Transport and Community Safety, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala confirmed the accident and indicated that emergency services were on the scene. Motorists are advised to be careful in the vicinity of the accident as high traffic volumes are experienced.
“There are fatalities but at this stage we leave investigations to the Police,” Moremi-Taueatsoala indicated.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed seven fatalities as this stage.
This follows a bus accident in which 11 commuters were killed on the N1 South between Mookgophong and Mokopane last Monday.
