Commemorative lecture by ANC veteran Joel Netshitenzhe

September is Heritage Month and a lecture under the theme: 'Mama Winnie Mandela: Advancing transformation of South Africa's heritage landscape' will be delivered locally by ANC veteran Joel Netshitenzhe.

POLOKWANE – Netshitenzhe is the Executive Director and Board Vice-Chairperson of the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (Mistra).

He holds an M.Sc degree in financial economics and a post-graduate diploma in economic principles from the University of London (SOAS), and a diploma in political science from the Institute of Social Sciences in Moscow.

He is a member of the National Planning Commission of government, the advisory board of the Nelson Mandela Trust and the board of CEEF.

The much anticipated memorial lecture will take place in the Press Theatre at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex this weekend, on Saturday, 22 September.

Guests are expected to arrive from 17:30 as the event starts at 18:30.

The event is expected to attract ANC members from as far as Vhembe, Waterberg, Sekhukhune and Mopani.

The invitation is also extended to students around the province.

Netshitenzhe was an activist during the Apartheid struggle, and joined in the liberation of the ANC, giving direction to government communication.

He crafted the Government Communicators Handbook which has since became the anchor of government communication.

He made it a point that the government communication changes and respond directly to empowering even the poorest of the poor in their municipalities and villages and his contribution in the crafting of the National Development Plan 2030 immensely impacted on the direction the country wants to take.
