Shocker in Patel saga

Even though some refute any link between the two, others suspect a connection between the shocking incident that claimed the life of double murder accused, Rameez Patel’s father-in-law Yunus Mayet (52) who was allegedly kidnapped at his home in Ster Park and killed execution style along the Silicon road Saturday night.
This three days prior to Patel’s appearance in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in connection with the alleged murder of his mother, Mahejeen at her home in Nirvana in September last year. The matter was postponed to October pending the Director of Public Prosecutions’ (DPP) decision.
A similar incident occurred in July a day before Patel was to appear in the Limpopo High Court in connection with the killing of his wife Fatima in April 2015. His brother and key witness to the case, Razeen was shot twice in the head and twice in the arm outside Mankweng. Ali Salman handed himself to Police within days after the incident and is facing a charge of attempted murder. He was released on bail and briefly appeared in the Mankweng Regional Court on Friday after which the case was postponed to November. Patel is due back in the high court next week when trial in the murder case of his wife is expected to continue.
The latest turn of events shook the family to its core. A family friend told Polokwane Observer that the Mayet family were enjoying a night out at a local mall and returned home. “The garage door was about to close when three armed suspects stormed in and started shooting randomly. They took everyone’s cell phones and valuables and took Mayet with them,” the friend indicated. Nasreen, her sister and mother were home during the incident.
