Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects who allegedly robbed South-Gate filling station at around midnight yesterday (Wednesday).
Two men reportedly entered the premises and requested to use the rest rooms in the store. They allegedly subsequently pointed firearms at the cashier.
Provincial Police spokesperson Marobo Seabela confirmed the incident and said the suspects took R2 000 from the cash register, proceeded to rob a petrol attendant of R400, filled up the vehicle, a silver-grey Toyota Corolla and fled the scene. No shots were fired nor was anyone injured. Seabela said no arrests have been made thus far.
Store manager, Charlotte Pratt said there were three men, the driver and the two who robbed the store. The vehicle did not have registration plates. She said the cashier would be provided with counselling.
