Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) employees affiliated to the National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) are calling for the removal of their Chief Executive Officer, Nomasonto Ndlovu less than a year after her appointment, during a weeklong picket action at their offices that commenced last Friday.
Ndlovu is being accused of not championing their interests and unwillingness to give in to a wage increase demand of 9% while the agency is offering 6%.
Picketing staff indicated that Ndlovu has become a stumbling block in their wage increase negotiations which started in May this year.
Ndlovu joined the agency in November last year following the departure of Ndumiso Matlala in April 2017.
LTA spokesperson Mike Tauatsoala said the management was committed to assist the employees and also emphasised that the wage negotiations were not the responsibility of the CEO alone but that of management as a whole.
On Tuesday one of the employees at LTA said they will continue with the picket action until their demands are met.
“We started on Friday and we also had another picket on Monday and Tuesday during lunch time and we will continue picketing until we reach consensus.”
Provincial Secretary of Nehawu, Jacob Adams said the employees are also fighting for pay progression and performance bonuses.
“We met with the employer and the employer was offering us 7% which we rejected. We will be going to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) to give us a date for conciliation and certificate of non resolution of the matter.”
