Seshego born, Kgothatso Montjane now ranks fifth in the world in wheelchair tennis.

POLOKWANE – The tennis maven was presented with an Audi Q2 on Wednesday,12 August at Audi Centre Polokwane by dealer principal, Thembinkosi Pantsi.

Since making it to the championships in Wimbledon in July, the tennis star has secured multiple sponsors. She has just returned from US Open Grand Slam in New York, where she for, for the first time reached the semifinal round in Flushing Meadow.

She lost to defending champion and world ranked number two, Yui Kamiji from Japan in the last four.

Despite the loss, Montjane can be proud following her great performance in the quarter-final dismantling world number 8, Lucy Shuker from Britain 6-4 6-4 to become the first South African wheelchair tennis player to reach the US Open Grand Slam semi-final since quad ace Lucas Sithole in 2013.

The 32-year-old has stepped up in major tournaments by reaching at least the semi-finals in two of the four slams this year. In July, she made history by becoming the first South African black woman to play at Wimbledon where she reached the semi-final round.

Vivian Casaletti from Optimize Agency spoke about the great achievements by the 32-year-old tennis star and the journey to securing the sponsorship that Montjane now enjoys.
