Limpopo police launch search operation for two mentally ill men

Joel Maredi Mapheto (22) and Tumelo Pilusa (33) have both been missing since the beginning of September

LIMPOPO – Police in Namakgale outside Phalaborwa have launched a search operation for two missing men who went missing in separate incidents.

Joel Maredi Mapheto (22), who resides in Namakgale, went missing on Tuesday, 4 September 2018 around 22:00.

According to police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, Mapheto is mentally challenged and was last seen wearing black takkies, black trousers and a maroon t-shirt at the time of his disappearance.

Tumelo Pilusa (33) who resides in Mashishimale Village went missing on Saturday, 9 September 2018 at 07:00. He left home without informing anyone where he was going.

“Pilusa is also mentally challenged and was last seen wearing a white shorts, a black jersey and grey shoes. He is light in complexion and medium in height,” Ngoepe explained.

Police and family members have tried to locate the missing men but to no avail.

“Anyone with information about the whereabouts of these men should contact Sergeant Lebogang Selepe on 079 5666 215 or the nearest police station. Alternatively, people can call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or make use of the SMS Line on 32211.”
