ID documents & banks cards among items confiscated from loan shark in Bela-Bela

The 22-year-old alleged loan shark was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit

LIMPOPO – According to provincial Hawks spokesperson, an intelligence driven operation between the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit and the National Credit Regulator resulted in the arrest of an alleged loan shark (22) in contravention of Sec 133 (1) (a) of the National Credit Act 34 of 2005.

“Four South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA) cards, 45 identity documents, 16 bank cards and registers were seized when the team pounced on the suspect at a local shop in Bela-Bela on 31 August 2018. He is expected to appear in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court today, 3 September 2018,” Maluleke explained.

Meanwhile, Kingu Hamid Kiula (42) was convicted by the Sibasa Regional Court on 31 August 2018 for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and was sentenced to R50 000 fine or five years imprisonment of which half is suspended for five years.

“On 9 December 2017 Kiula was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit after he was found driving a suspected stolen white Ford Ranger which was reported stolen in Randburg, Gauteng,” he concluded.
