SPCA shop keeps growing bigger

Frequent visitors to Savannah Mall will have noticed the SPCA's charity shop is now in a new spot.

POLOKWANE – The shop opened in August 2015 on the lower level of the mall and has since moved to the top level and, most recently, back to the lower level.

Entering the shop you will notice rails and rails of clothing, shelves with books and a lot of other items, not necessarily found in shops.

The shop depends on the community to keep their shelves and rails full.

Store Manager, Nelia Tiersman, explains the books and clothing are the items that sell most.

“If we get crockery, the nice ones are sold quickly. The items that are not as nice will stay behind and one day someone will come and buy everything at once. Curtains and linen also sell quickly.”

She explains they do not buy products to resell, but that everything in the shop was a donation. The money made in the shop goes to the Polokwane SPCA.

“We are quite busy and are not open on Sundays. On Saturdays we are open between 09:00 and 13:00 and during the week from 09:00 to 17:00.

“Even though we have a couple of volunteers, we always need more.”
