Making a legal mark one case at a time

Joined by family, friends and colleagues, Fhatuwani Mugivhi, launched Mugivhi FP Attorneys on 22 August at 37A Voortrekker Street.

POLOKWANE – The occasion was made even more special by the fact that Mugivhi chose her birthday to celebrate the launch of her law firm. Looking radiant and ever-youthful in green, she greeted guests as they arrived to celebrate the wonderful occasion. Guests all shared sentiments of well wishes with the woman they describe as dedicated and hardworking.

Mugivhi was the Head of the Master of the High Court of South Africa but life led her onto the path of opening her own practice.

Mugivhi’s mother, Tsakani Gladys Mugivhi, expressed her pride at her daughter’s achievements, speaking of the day she first held her daughter in her arms in 1972.

“It was a beautiful moment. She is my first child and she became the reason I am a mother. I am very proud of what she has accomplished. Obviously they will not write Mugivhi FP Attorneys & mother but at the back of your minds you must know this is how it actually is,” she said to applause and laughter form the guests.

Arina Tshikovhi, Mudani Neluheni and Rose Mukwevho are Fhatuwani Mugivh’s sisters and best friends.

Former colleague and friend of Mugivhi, Vhulondo Tryphosa Singo, shared how Mugivhi is more than a friend to her. They worked together at the Department of Justice. “She is a very noble woman and I am not surprised that we are gathered here. If you think her rise has come to an end, think again because this is an introduction. She is born for a purpose and she is a hard worker. If you think she will be working in Polokwane, think again, she will reach as far as Johannesburg. She goes the extra mile,” she said.

Mugivhi said she was humbled by the opportunity to open her own firm and everyone’s positive and welcoming response.

“This is the day I have set apart with my creator. I have invited everyone here to wipe out from your minds that I am the Master of the High Court, I am no longer the master,” she said putting on the attorney’s uniform.

The special caked baked to celebrate the momentous occasion.

She added although she occupied the highest position in the court, it was time to move on. She said she looks forward to a successful practice. She offers a wide variety of professional services including family law, administration of estate, socio-economic cases, civil litigation, third party claims, labour matters, debt management, land restitution, valuation of properties, intellectual property rights, conveyancing, advisory services, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS).
