Roossenekal ‘farm intrusion’ leaves two women severely injured

The attack happened on Saturday afternoon. Police have since launched a manhunt for the two suspects

LIMPOPO – The police are searching for two unknown armed suspects in connection with a farm attack on a farm in in Roossenekal outside Groblesdaal on Saturday afternoon (24 August).

It is alleged the victims were inside the house when the armed suspects gained entry. The two women were then held hostage and assaulted before the suspects left the scene in the farm owners vehicle, taking the two women along, said Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The police were notified and traced the susepcts where they found one of the women dumped along the Lydenburg road about 20 km outside Lydenburg. The second victim was found in Lydenburg.

Both women were taken to the nearest hospital where they are still recuperating, Ngoepe added.

“The vehicle was also recovered in Lydenburg but the suspects are still on the run.”

The police are appealing to anyone with information that can lead to the apprehension of these suspects to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501. Alternatively they can contact the 24-hour crime stop number 0860010111, the crime line sms 32211or the nearest Police Station.

The Police investigations are still continuing, Ngoepe concluded.
