LIMPOPO – A possible drug syndicate believed to be linked to a spate of criminal activities in the Tzaneen Cluster was cracked during the Tactical Intelligence led joint operation “Evergreen”, said the Limpopo police on Friday.
The operation composed of the Saps Limpopo Provincial Crime Intelligence, the Provincial Detectives, the Provincial Drug Team and the Tzaneen Cluster Crime Intelligence.
Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the officials followed information on this syndicate which were found to be operating Dan Village outside Tzaneen and followed them to Noordwyk Midrand in Gauteng where they made the arrests.
Some of their dubious activities included the smuggling of dagga from Swaziland into South Africa and dagga to value of R2.6 million was confiscated.
“During the arrest 65 small bags of dagga, 40 big bags of dagga weighing 887 kgs with the street value of R2.6 million and a white Chevrolet bakkie.”
Three of the four suspects are residing at Nkoankoa and Dan village and the fourth lives in Noordwyk in Midrand.
All four suspects (aged between 27 and 59) are still being profiled and it is believed that they might be linked to a spate of criminal activities in the Tzaneen Cluster or other areas.
They will appear before court soon pending further Police investigations.
