Another Limpopo learner stabbed to death by classmate

It is alleged the victim was stabbed as a result of a fight which took place during school hours

LIMPOPO – A 18-year-old learner is expected to appear before the Malamulele Magistrate Court today on a charge of murder in following the stabbing to death of a fellow classmate on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at the Nkatini High School at Shigalo village near Malamulele at around midday.

According to Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe the 18-year-old victim was stabbed following an altercation between the two learners.

“It is alleged the two learners had a fight during school hours and later, the suspect produced a sharp object and stabbed his school mate to death.”

The police were immediately summoned to the scene and the suspect was arrested on the spot and the murder weapon confiscated , said Ngoepe.

The deceased was identified as Hloniphani Robert Golele from Shigalo village near Malamulele.

The Saps Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba is saddened by this incident, especially with the manner in which the life of a young man was lost within the schooling environment.

“We call upon parents and guardians to join hands with the police and educators, to ensure that schools remain a safe environment at all times”, concluded General Ledwaba.
