LIMPOPO – In their relentless effort to stabilise the scourge of crime, especially violent and contact crimes in the province, the police conducted an Intelligence-driven joint Tactical Operation in the Phalaborwa and Malamuele clusters respectively, said police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
During the operation two known suspects (aged 25 and 31) were arrested and two unlicensed 9mm pistols and 18 rounds of unlicensed ammunition seized in the Namakgale area.
“These suspects have already been positively linked to several cases in the area which include armed robbery in Botlokwa, house burglary in Phalaborwa, theft out of motor vehicle as well as possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle.”

Meanwhile in the Malamulele policing area outside Giyani, the “ceasefire” officials seized firearms and ammunition at Jilongo village near Malamulele.
“The officials followed up on information received and 194 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 20 rounds of hornet ammunition, 186 rounds of Magnod ammunition, 3 rounds of R5 rifle ammunition and 2 empty magazines for 9mm were confiscated.”
The suspect in this regard is still on the run and it is believed he is currently somewhere in Gauteng, added Ngoepe.
The Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended all members involved in these operations. “The arrest of the duo and the seizure of these arms and ammunition, will go a long way in reducing the levels crimes”, said General Ledwaba.
