Low water pressure and shortages may occur in some areas of the city today (Tuesday) while load shedding will be effected today and on Wednesday (tomorrow).
Communications and Marketing Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo, advised that the Ebenezer water plant will be out of operation from 08:00 until 17:00 today to allow for repairs to a pipe leak at Ga-Makanye village. “The Olifantspoort plant is, however, in operation but reservoir levels are low and minimal pressure and shortages may occur,” Mothapo said.
Mothapo also confirmed that Bendor, Savanna Mall, Sterpark, Flora Park, Fauna Park, Mall of the North, Thornhill, Nirvana, Westenburg, Rainbow Park, Superbia, parts of the CBD, Laboria and parts of the extensions will be subjected to load shedding in accordance with the published schedule for the next two days as part of managing power supply after the Epsilon substation lost a second transformer. “The shedding will be implemented according to patterns of consumption throughout the period,” Mothapo said and added that it was not possible to indicate when the situation will be rectified, but that it may take up to two days.
Mothapo apologised for any inconvenience and urged residents to use the resources sparingly to minimise the impact of the unfortunate circumstances.
