Child (3) among four dead in accident on the N1

The Department of transport say the cause of the accident is reckless driving

LIMPOPO – Four people were killed and three people seriously injured in an accident on the N1-25 near Bokenhoud in the Waterberg District on Saturday night, 18 August.

According to the spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala a Toyota sedan rear ended an Isuzu bakkie and the driver of a Polo sedan, who was tying to avoid the accident, collided head on with an oncoming vehicle.

“Four people, including a driver and three passengers from the Polo sedan were killed. One of the deceased was a 3-year-old child,” Moremi-Taueatsoala said.

One more driver and two other passengers were seriously injured while one other person was slightly injured.

Meanwhile, Moremi-Taueatsoala says 17 drunk drivers were arrested on Saturday, 18 August, during a female led operation.

“Four drivers were arrested in the Modjadji area, three in Tzaneen, five in Lephalale and five in Modimolle,” he concluded.
