The Olifantspoort water plant is now (Friday at noon) also out of operation as a result of a leak on the Specon line that has to be repaired. The city reservoirs are at critically low levels and it is most likely that low pressure and shortages may occur.
Polokwane Observer reported earlier this morning that the Ebenezer water plant was out of operation due to an electricity problem and low pressure and shortages may be expected in lower catchment areas until the challenge is resolved.
Stakeholder Relations Officer of Polokwane Municipality, Disree Manyane, said in a media release that the repairs to the Specon line may take up to ten hours, but could not indicate when the electricity to the Ebenezer plant would be restored.
The compounded events will impact on the availability of water to Ga-Mamabolo, Mankweng, the city area and Seshego and Manyane urged residents in the low catchment areas that are receiving water, to use water sparingly to avoid critical shortages.
