Suspected stolen bakkie covered in ‘snacks’ recovered in Westenburg

The bakkie was allegedly stolen in Gauteng and was en route to Zimbabwe.

POLOKWANE – At around 03:30 this morning the Department of Transport’s Limpopo Anti Fraud and Corruption unit, received information from Tracetec Pty Ltd, a tracking and recovery company, that a bakkie towing a trailer with a possible stolen vehicle on the trailer was approaching Polokwane from Gauteng.

The tracking company recovered the vehicle at 06:00. The department, SAPS and SPS Security were brought onboard and the suspected vehicle was searched.

A Ford Ranger covered with three layers of snacks was recovered and four suspects were arrested in Westenburg, just outside Polokwane.

Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed that four suspects between the ages of 30 and 40-years-old were arrested on the spot.

“The suspects will appear in the Polokwane Magistrates Court soon on a charge of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle,” he concluded
