Nirvana, Westenburg & Ivy Park among areas to be affected by pipe repair

The Municipality says repairs have to be done on the pipeline to Polokwane from the Olifantspoort Plant.

POLOKWANE – According to a statement by the Polowkane Municiplity, reservoir levels received this morning, 15 August, indicated that Olifantspoort Plant is at 0% and water shortages are expected in many parts of the city.

Areas of supply to be affected include the city, Seshego, Nirvana, Westernburg, Ivy Park, Lebowakgomo and Zebediela.

This comes after the plant had to be stopped due to a damaged pipe by a Capricorn District Municipality contractor. Materials required to do the repairs were arranged by technicians.

The Municipality says repairs were not completed last night due to water having to be drained through an air valve overnight.

“Repairs had to be stopped due to safety reasons and will continue this morning,” the municipality said.

They are urging residents to only use water for domestic consumption as the plant is currently under pressure.

Residents can report to the Municipality for water tankers deployment to their areas on 015 290 2376/2629.
