Polokwane SAPS cashier arrested for fraud

An auditor report showed R264 729.60 was unaccounted for at the time the suspect was a cashier

POLOKWANE – According to provincial Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke, a 32-year-old cashier stationed at Polokwane SAPS was served with a summons to appear in court on 10 August 2018 following a fraud investigation.

“Between 19 January 2018 and 7 February 2018, the suspect was serving as a cashier at Polokwane SAPS’ finance office and was responsible for receiving and depositing state money into the state bank account,” Maluleke explained.

An auditors report showed an amount of R264 729.60 was missing and unaccounted for during the time the suspect was a cashier.

“The matter was referred to the Hawks for further investigation and it resulted in the suspect being summoned. She is expected to make her first appearance before the Seshego Magistrates Court on 31 August 2018,” he concluded.
