Limpopo Police arrest 546 suspects during operations

The simultaneous joint operations were conducted up until this morning and 546 suspects were arrested through stop-and-search operations and raids of illegal liquor traders.

LIMPOPO – The suspects, aged between 19 and 56, were arrested for a series of crimes ranging from housebreaking and theft, theft of motor vehicle, carjacking, illegal immigration, house robbery, business robbery to possession of firearms and ammunition without license and possession of suspected stolen properties.

According to Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the operations were focused on trio crimes and were conducted simultaneously in all clusters.

During these operations 617 people and 1009 cars were searched,  54 traffic summonses and 88 liquor summons were issued.

The following items were recovered during these operations:

* 23 motor vehicles – some where confiscated after they were found transporting dagga and others are suspected stolen.
* Seven (07) firearms ,25 ammunitions and two (02) magazines.


* Seven  (07) cellphones.
* R19 900.00 cash amount of money.
* Dagga valued at R5700.00.
* 20 dagga plants and 11 packets of dagga.
* Ten (10) rolls and three (03) bags of electric cables.


* Assortment of stolen items such as knives, gas bottle, water pump, wheelbarrow, shoes, spot light and clothing.

The arrested suspects have already started appearing before different Magistrate Courts throughout the Province on various offences, Ngoepe concluded.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Jim Ledwaba has commended all members involved in these operations. He assured the communities of Limpopo a safe and secured environment and urged everyone to continue supporting the police by providing quality and reliable information at all times in their endeavour to fight crime effectively.
