Department urges motorists travelling home after the long weekend to be patient

This comes after 31 drivers between the age 25 and 40 were arrested for drunk driving.

LIMPOPO – The Department of Transport is urging motorists to be patient and to abide by the traffic rules while making their way home after the long weekend.

This comes after 31 drivers between the age 25 and 40 were arrested for drunk driving.

Of the few accidents we have observed this long weekend most were at night and due to reckless driving, therefore, we call on our motorists to be patient with each other. says Matomi Moremi-Taueatsoala, Spokesperson for the Department of Transport.

“The traffic flow on the N1 South is expected to pickup by mid day as many people will be travelling back to Gauteng after the long weekend. Those travelling out of Polokwane on R101 and N1 South next to Meropa can expect delays due to the construction happening on the N1 bypass.”

He further urges motorists to have correct amount of money when approaching the tollgates to avoid unnecessary delays.

“The N1 brigade together with the help of National Traffic Police is on standby to monitor the situation the road,” he concludes.
