Rock the boardroom with these fashion tips for businessmen

Fashion designer, Mojalefa Lefa Maboko, gives businessmen some tips on what kind of clothing to wear to be taken seriously when attending important work meetings such as conferences or board meetings.

POLOKWANE – “This advice will mostly work for a man who just started a new job or has never attended a board meeting or conference before. Most of the time first impression lasts, not just in the workplace but anywhere you go where you have to make an entrance and find everyone seated. Boardroom meetings are usually a good platform and space to showcase your look and look impressive because when you enter the room, the rooms are usually quiet and all the attention will usually be on the person who enters the room,” he said.

He explained rocking a two- or three-piece suit, sticking to darker or neutral colours, is always a good and safe choice.

Mojalefa says wearing bright coloured suits is a very bad idea to wear to your workplace because those are normally meant for weddings or other special occasions.

“When you go to work meetings, stick to darker colours such as your darker blues, black, darker brown or dark maroon colours. Colours that don’t scream ‘I’m over here’. Just make sure your belt, watch and shoes match though. You can also throw in a small flower and handkerchief in the jacket pocket to pimp out your look, but still look formal at the same time,” he advised.
