Exclusive clothing store Polo opened its doors in Mall of the North (MoN) at the beginning of August with much fanfare and an offering of 30% off selected merchandise.
Polo Managing Director Mark Oliver said he feels a deep sense of satisfaction with the opening. “This is the mall I have always wanted Polo to be in,” he said.
Polo offers aspirational affordable clothing for everyone and was founded in 1976. Gordon Joffe was the driving force behind the Polo brand and he was passionate about men’s shirts, seeking to be “the country’s quality lounge shirt producer” at the time.
Polo now employs a vast array of specialist designers, buyers, planners, merchandisers and a procurement team that delivers seasonal collections of menswear, women’s wear, kid’s apparel, homeware and accessories, Oliver explained, adding that Polo is sold in Polo flagship stores, leading department stores and selected independent stores in South Africa ans sub-Saharan Africa.
MoN General Manager Sumari de Ridder welcomed Polo on board. “Deciding to be a part of MoN was one of the best decisions Polo could have made,” she added.
Not half an hour after the new store’s ribbon was cut, the store was filled with a number of browsers. Matsimela Matsobane from Mashashane said he really enjoyed seeing what Polo has to offer. “I love the Polo brand and I am ecstatic they have opened in MoN,” he said.
Reneilwe Hutamo concurred. “I especially love the range of children’s clothes,” she added.
Polo MoN store manager, Godfrey Ramushu invited everyone to come and browse the store. “Our friendly personnel are waiting to assist you and don’t forget we have the latest fashion wear arriving regularly. Look out for our new spring/summer collection that will hit our store soon,” he said.
