Learners at Capricorn High School are not only passionate about their education but also about saving lives which was evident during a blood drive organised by the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) Polokwane at the school last Thursday.
Cappies Peer Promoters were targeting 360 possible donors on the day to achieve a target of 70 units. Educator and blood drive organiser, Irma van der Merwe said the school finished fourth in Capricorn District last year for donating 420 units of blood to SANBS. She further said they host blood drives at 56 day intervals.
According to Van der Merwe, blood donors must weigh 45 kg or more and must be at least 16 years old. She was delighted that learners see the importance of becoming blood donors and urged the public to follow suit.
