Electricity supply to the Olifantspoort water plant has been restored and pumping to the city reservoirs has resumed after an electricity cut earlier this morning.
This follows after Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) informed Polokwane Municipality earlier this morning (Friday) that the Olifantspoort plant was temporarily out of commission due to electricity failure. Simon Mpamonyane, Spokesperson for Lepelle Northern Water, however, confirmed thereafter that power supply was restored and that the process of priming and starting up of the plant was in process.
Communications and Marketing Manager of the municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo said that the interruption of pumping will not necessarily affect consumers, but advised that precautionary measures should be taken as some areas may be affected.
