800 vetkoeke for Willow Tree

To raise money for these two schools, Corné van Heerden from Care for Autism decided to sell vetkoeke on Friday, 3 August.

POLOKWANE – Hidden away where no one will think of looking for them, The Willow Tree Baby and Toddler Center as well as Glitter Minds are doing the best that can. That is looking after young children.

To raise money for these two schools, Corné van Heerden from Care for Autism decided to sell vetkoeke on Friday, 3 August.

Corné told Review that they had orders for 850 vetkoeke.

Corné van Heerden shows how good the vetkoeke looks.

“Some are made with mince, some with chicken and others plain. The money will be divided between The Willow Tree and Glitter Minds.

She explains that The Willow Tree takes children between three months and five years. Glitter Minds on the other hand, only have 10 children, but these children are all on the autism spectrum and therefore need more caretakers per child.

Gavin Nel helps to prepare vetkoeke.

“Every cent that Glitter minds makes is used for their expenses and that is one of the reasons why we decided to help them. This is a yearly event and we would like to thank not only our helpers in making the vetkoeke, but everyone that ordered vetkoeke and our sponsors.”

Sarah Letsoalo and Gavin Nel works hard to get the vetkoeke ready for delivery.

Sponsors that are thanked:

• Spar for giving them a good price on the vetkoeke.

• Nguni Grill for cooking all the mince.

• Round Table Impala 1557 as well as the Round Table 66 in Louis Trichardt.
