Sanca helps fight addiction through support group

There are many people suffering from drug or alcohol addiction around South Africa and Polokwane is no exception.

POLOKWANE – With this in mind, Sanca Polokwane is bringing a much needed service, back to the city.

The newly established group will offer those addicted to alcohol or drugs the support they require during treatment as well as during the recovery process.

Director for Sanca, Amanda Swarts, told Review that offering support and advice to addicts and alcoholics is an important part of the recovery process. “Many fall through the cracks as they do not have the support needed to break their old habits and leave the friend base which encouraged their addiction. In most cases they are facing their addiction alone and it is often easier to turn back to alcohol or drugs than face the situation that they are in,” she said.

The Sanca centre will host the support group every Thursday evening at 18:00.

Those who are interested can contact the center for more information on 015 295 3700 or visit the Sanca office at 33 Church Street. You can also send an email to amanda@fnda.co.za

“We need people to know that they are not alone in the fight against substance and alcohol abuse. There is help offered by those who has been in your shoes, know what you are going through and will walk with you every step of the way,” Swarts concluded.
