Several passengers, the driver of a taxi as well as Polokwane Observer Distribution Manager Sylvester Coetzee sustained slight injuries after a collision on the corner of Grobler and Dorp streets on Monday that resulted in the publication’s delivery vehicle seemingly being damaged beyond repair.
An eyewitness alleged that the taxi driver ignored a red traffic light and crashed into Coetzee who was travelling in Dorp Street.
The impact caused the taxi to land on its side making it necessary for passengers to be assisted to exit through the emergency window at the back.
Traffic in Grobler Street was rerouted to Dorp Street for close to an hour while traffic and police officials inspected the scene and emergency services attended to the injured before transporting them to hospital.
The accident will have no impact on Polokwane Observer’s production or operations and readers can still expect reality news every Thursday.
