Two of the four suspects in the William Mathebula murder case, Simon Ramela and Johannes Matlala will have to wait until August to carry on with their bail application after the case was postponed in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday.
The other two suspects Nakedi Mathebula, widow of the deceased, and Victor Mashakeng were released on bail earlier this year. Nakedi Mathebula is charged with conspiracy to murder while the others are facing a charge of murder.
The four suspects were allegedly involved in the murder of the local businessman at his home in Flora Park in February. He was reportedly shot and killed in cold blood in front of his son and domestic worker on 20 February. Mathebula’s son was waiting at the gate to go to school at around 07:10 when confronted by three suspects who allegedly pushed him into the house where they encountered the domestic worker and then pushed both into a room with the victim. Without saying a word they allegedly shot him several times in front of his son and the domestic worker before fleeing the scene.
Weeks after the murder Mathebula’s wife, Matlala and Ramela were arrested followed by Mashakeng’s arrests after he handed himself over to Police recently.
